Corky (drums & vocals), Peter Baron (guitar & vocals), Mark Clarke (bass & vocals), and Ken Sidotti (keyboards) + special guests are thrilled to invite you to Rock Revue.

Corky has recorded with Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and John Lennon; jammed with Jimi Hendrix and The Band; and co-wrote songs with Keith Richards and Ian Hunter. Hear the music performed by the original artist and listen to the stories by the musician who experienced the birth of classic rock firsthand. This is an evening you don’t want to miss!

“If you were playing in the rock era, it was who you were playing with that dictated your credibility. I was lucky enough to be in that loop,” he said. “Mountain was a musician’s band. It wasn’t a pop band. We were serious players. Building respect is more about who you get to play with than it is about a gold record. I got to play with Leslie (West) and Jack (Bruce). Jack was a genius, and I do not use that word lightly.”

CORKY LAING

Corky Laing (FIN/CAN/USA) is best known as the drummer of the classic rock bands Mountain (1969-2019) and West, Bruce & Laing (1972-1975). What is less known is that he co-wrote many of the bands’ greatests hits, including Mississippi Queen, Why Dontcha and For Yasgur’s Farm. He is the last surviving member of both bands and continues to celebrate their musical legacy. In addition to Corky’s musical talents, he is a raconteur par excellence who hosted his own radio show in Canada, and created and performed a unique stand-up sit-down show, Best Seat in the House. In 2019, Corky released his autobiography (years 1948-1998), Letters to Sarah.

Since Covid-19 hit the world, Corky has spent half of his time in Finland. He has worked with Finnish musicians on several projects for a decade, but the pandemic gave him an opportunity to fully concentrate on the tunes that had been brewing in his mind. He has a small demo studio in Finland and together with his trusted studio engineer and multi-instrumentalist, Harri Väyrynen, he was able to give shape to the new material.

" ... The music is what you would expect from this rock veteran, i.e. earthy blues-based, wonderfully swinging and heavy. But not only. Here there are acoustic guitars, strings, and fine-tuned ballads. As befits a reputable drummer, the percussion is at the forefront of the very lively soundscape, and Laing's unpolished, slightly hoarse voice, not unlike Keith Richards, shines above it all. The only thing the disc is not, it is not modern. As if taken from 1972, this is a hot melting pot and with this, the author of is this review feels very comfortable."
